Description

The M-Edge e-Luminator2 booklight is the ultimate accessory for the Amazon Kindle. Based on the input of loyal M-Edge customers, this custom designed booklight has been developed to work seamlessly with most of M-Edge's jackets for the Amazon Kindle (2nd Generation). The powerful light features a super-bright LED light bulb which provides ample illumination for the Reader's screen while a mirrored reflector and optical quality lens disperses the light uniformly. The light is powered by a standard AAA battery (not included) with endurance enough for more than 20 hours of operation without dimming. The light is operated by a three position switch with two light intensity settings.A flexible and resilient steel neck allows the user to position the light in the desired direction.Perhaps the most impressive feature of this light is that it is designed to be stored via a slim support arm sized to match a pocket sewn into the back of many of M-Edge Jackets for the Amazon Kindle. The light pocket is conveniently located behind the Kindle and does not interfere with the use of the eReader. When in the storage position, the light is located conveniently in the jacket so you can easily bring your light while on the go.

Summary: "M-Edge e-Luminator2"

I have tried to use the light but having some trouble with it, can't get the flex arm to flex in the direction that I want it to, or to stay where I want the light to shine. I does fit nice in the book cover I purchased and the light does have two setting, and appears to be bright enough to read by, will be trying it out better on my plane trip.

Summary: "Good, but..."

I have had this light for slightly over a month now. At first, I really liked it, and it is still the best I have had so far. But after a few weeks of daily use, there are a few minor annoyances.
First the Pros:
1. It fits into my M-Edge Lattitude case perfectly. It also works well with my SimpleCase by sliding it in behind the Kindle itself.
2. It takes only one AAA battery.
3. Has 2 light settings
4. Can fold up neatly inside my lattitude case when traveling.
5. Light is bright enough when the battery is new.
6. Sturdy, stays in the position I put it.
Cons:
1. It seems to use a lot of battery power. However, I do use it every night for about 2 hours, sometimes longer. I have used 2 batteries in the past month and it seems like I might need another one soon, since the light is getting dimmer again. While that is not a huge problem, I was somewhat surprised. I just have to make sure I always have a battery on hand. I keep an extra one inside the Lattitude pocket.
2. It does not seem to shed the same amount of light equally over the entire Kindle screen. The area at the bottom is not nearly as bright as the top. If I remove the light from the slot in the cover and slide it down behind the Kindle itself, it seems to work better.
3. I found the lower light setting is only usable when the battery is brand new, however, I do have difficulty seeing in low light situations. So others may not have the same problems with lack of brightness that I do.

Over all it is a good light, much better than others I have tried. But for me, it is not perfect and I am still looking for that 'perfect light'.

Summary: "A Good Fit"

I ordered the light in order to read in the middle of the night or early morning hours without waking the house, and it is perfect! Although it changes the fit of the kindle cover (not drastically), it does exactly what it's supposed to do: lights up the page, not the room. When I first received the light, it was defective so I called M-Edge and they immediately sent me a replacement light. It worked!

Summary: "Great little device"

Although this item is labeled for the Kindle e-reader, I bought it to use with my M-Edge Executive cover for the Nook. It fits perfectly, with its tab sliding into the purpose-made pocket behind the Nook. The light swivels 180 degrees up, then you bend the gooseneck to focus the light on the screen, adjusting so it's not in your way and not causing a glare reflection; not hard to do. It swivels down when not in use so that its gooseneck lies down the inside spine of the book cover, which can then be closed with no problem. The light is bright but focused, throwing its circular beam on the Nook screen and not much else. The low setting is perfectly adequate for me to read in bed with the lights out. Battery life seems very good; after a month I'm still on my first (lithium) AAA battery.

Summary: "M-Edge e-luminator 2 booklight for Amazon Kindle"

I liked the color and shape of the booklight, but it would NOT stay in place. The light was NOT bright enough either. I read in bed at night with a booklight and it just was not enough light for me. I put it away and I am back reading with my old booklight.
